The Seventh Annual CANstruction Long Beach is scheduled for Sept. 14-18. Participants build structures made entirely out of full cans of food and other non-perishable items, which are donated to Food Finders after the event. The virtual Concert for Humankindness to benefit health equity starts at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21. It’s available free online and sponsors can attend a viewing party at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Howie Mandel will be the virtual host and performers include Vanessa Williams, Kristin Chenoweth, En Vogue and more. The party is hosted by the St. Mary Medical Center Foundation. The Luke-toberfest, which raises money to fight childhood cancer and support Wilson High golfers, has a series of live and virtual events set for October. The activities are the work of the Luke Tatsu Johnson Foundation, established in 2017 to honor the memory of Luke Tatsu Johnson, who died from leukemia at the age of 16. The in-person LTJF Golf Tournament starts at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 at Rec Park, 5001 Deukmejian Dr. Entry fee is $185. Details on a celebration/auction on Sunday, Oct. 17 will be announced later. All during the month of October, people are invited to take part in the Virtual Move4Luke event by walking, swimming, skateboarding, swimming or dancing.
